Congratulations to two of our renal research fellows, Dr. Vicky Brocklebank (shown right) and Dr. Kate Smith-Jackson have been undertaking their research in the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre. Following a round of highly competitive funding applications, both have been awarded fellowships to undertake a further three years of research. Their achievements to date include peer-review publications and presentations on the national and international stage. We look forward to seeing their careers continue to flourish as MRC Clinical Research Training Fellows.
Dr Edwin Wong delivered this year’s Raine Award Lecture entitled ‘Losing Control of Complement’. He received the Raine Award in recognition of his work in aHUS and C3 Glomerulopathy. He presented work from during his research fellowship, funded by Medical Research Council, following a grant from Northern Counties Kidney Research Fund.
